SPOTLIGHT: Ohio GI practice markets wireless documentation system
A company spun off from a Cincinnati-area gastroenterology practice is marketing a wireless, voice-activated clinical documentation system that surgeons there created in 2007 and have been using ever since. Three physicians at Ohio Gastroenterology, based in Avondale, Ohio, have joined with two businesspeople to form eMerge Health Solutions, which will offer the technology. With the system, a surgeon speaks into a wireless headset during procedures, eliminating the need for an extra nurse in the operating room to document each case. Speech recognition technology turns the dictation into electronic notes. Article
