La. hospital's EHR automatically programs wireless infusion pumps

Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La., a hospital already well known for its broad health IT infrastructure, has taken another step forward on the road to complete interoperability, linking wireless Hospira infusion pumps to the Cerner electronic health record throughout the 700-bed facility. The EHR automatically programs more than 600 wireless infusion pumps to make sure each patient gets exactly the medication that the physician ordered.
