SPOTLIGHT: Houston startups with new mobile health technologies
Like any big U.S. city, Houston has a community of eager entrepreneurs hoping for a breakthrough. One has embedded fiber-optic sensors in a disposable pad for nursing-home residents to track whether a patient is in bed, having a seizure or breathing abnormally. Another has developed a web-based program for hospitals to spot and manage safety lapses, while the third produces software to scan and analyze medical images, and let users share files online.
