SPOTLIGHT: Home monitoring for the elderly
Researchers at the University of Houston have been working for the past four years to develop wireless health monitors with low-cost, off-the-shelf technology. Designed for elderly patients, small, unobtrusive body sensors collect vital signs and send them to sensors installed in various rooms around a house or care facility, then send data to the Internet or to caregivers' handsets. The researchers want the technology to be so simple that caregivers can install the system. Article
