Physicians Interactive buys Skyscape, will move headquarters

Skyscape, an early name in PDA-based healthcare software, but also the beneficiary of a recent boom, has been acquired by Physicians Interactive, a provider of pharmaceutical e-detailing services. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Physicians Interactive says it will move its headquarters to Skyscape's home base of Marlborough, MA. Skyscape founder, President and CEO Sandeep Shah will stay on board to run what now is called the Skyscape division of Physicians Interactive. Privately held Physicians Interactive, now based in Libertyville, IL, is a former subsidiary of EMR vendor Allscripts.

According to Mass High Tech, adoption of Skyscape software and services has nearly tripled this year. The acquisition doubles the physician network of Physicians Interactive and adds 1 million healthcare professionals to the company's marketing database.
