Mobile health featured at CTIA Wireless 2010

CTIA Wireless 2010 kicks off today in Las Vegas, and though FierceMobileHealthcare isn't there for the 25th annual event, mobile health and wellness products will have a prominent presence. On the agenda are a half-day "Everywhere Healthcare" conference, and the show floor features a Wireless Health Pavilion.

"Innovations in wireless are influencing all aspects of our lives. The convergence of healthcare and mobile technologies has the potential to change the lives of individuals and to contribute to better care, healthier choices and increased quality of life," Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA, tells London's The Independent. "Opportunities in m-health are growing every day," Mesirow adds.

Among the technologies on display in Vegas are the types of home-based vitals monitors and diagnostic devices we've covered extensively in FierceMobileHealthcare since we launched this publication 10 months ago, but also some cutting-edge technology like disposable, "Band-Aid-like" sensors that continuously transmit readings wirelessly to mobile phones.
