HIMSS10 could have been a mobile event all to itself

Ditto. I have been attending HIMSS for 10 years and the mobile apps are coming out of the woodwork. M2 was showing off a new lab result package on the Iphone and Voalte is upping the ante on mobile communications and interfacing with EMR apps. It used to be that there was just Emergin and Connexall for providing the interface engine between line of business apps and mobile devices, and this year there were over 10.
The writing is on the wall that if your application does not have the ability to port to a mobile device you are in serious danger of losing market share and being an "Also Ran". CXO's are demanding tools that enable their caregivers to be more efficient, improve workflow and increase skilled employee retention.
HIMSS needs to provide these vendors their own section of the show. The critical mass is there and this is how Healthcare will be delivered in the future. Hospitals want to get out of the endpoint business as much as possible. Yes, they will still need workstations but when was the last time you saw a Nurse or Doctor standing in front of a computer for extended periods of time?
