GA hospital to improve wireless communication in ED

Clinicians in the emergency department at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA, are using wireless handsets for voice, messaging and instantaneous alerts as part of a new, customized mobile clinical communications system. Hatboro, PA-based technology vendor InfoLogix completed a comprehensive assessment of the hospital's wireless infrastructure and ED communications workflow, and installed the new system in just 45 days, according to the company.

"Our new Care Team Communications system will provide our front-line caregivers immediate access to mission-critical information as well as other personnel, saving valuable time and enabling better clinical care," Gwinnett Medical Center spokeswoman Andrea Wehrmann says in a statement.

InfoLogix also says it is helping the hospital with other mobile technology in a new, 150-bed patient tower.
